Lindbergh Schools Board of Education President Vic Lenz is the newest president of the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

Lenz became MSBA president at the conclusion of the 2011 MSBA Leadership Summit, which was held on June 3 and 4 in Columbia.

During his remarks at the Leadership Summit, Lenz urged school board members to become even stronger advocates for public education and engage in shaping the future of the public schools in Missouri.

“President Thomas Jefferson believed that an educated citizenry is the basis of our democracy,” Lenz said. “In order to have an educated citizenry we must have a strong system of public education, and every student must have access to a quality free public education. With the Visioning Project that is being developed as a guideline, MSBA is going to be enhancing its advocacy programs and asking for increased effort in shaping legislation that will strengthen Missouri’s public schools.”

The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.

As MSBA president, Lenz will chair the statewide Education Round Table and Service Connection, serve on the Futurebuilders Foundation Board, work with MSBA’s 17 regional leadership committees and represent Missouri to the National School Boards’ Association.
