Lindbergh school board a finalist for MSBA honor

Lindbergh Schools’ Board of Education is one of five finalists for Missouri’s 2009 Outstanding Board of Education Award, which is sponsored by the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

Lindbergh’s board members joined Superintendent Jim Simpson last Saturday in Columbia for a final interview, where they explained the district’s approach to executing the fundamental principles and complex challenges of school-board governance, according to a district news release.

MSBA’s Board Services Committee selected the finalists from eight semifinalist applications. Lindbergh’s board is the only St. Louis-area board to be named a finalist.

The four other finalists are Grain Valley R-V, Nixa R-II, Raymore-Peculiar R-II and Smithville R-II.

The state winner will be announced Oct. 24 at a banquet during the MSBA’s annual conference.
