Lindbergh Players to stage ‘Sweet Charity’

The Lindbergh High School Players will offer the community another “valentine” today, Feb. 28, through Saturday, March 1, when they stage the delightful romantic musical “Sweet Charity.”

Performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lindbergh School District Auditorium, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd. The cost is $5 for students and senior citizens and $6 for adults. Ticket reservations can be requested by calling (314) 729-2400, Ext. 1536.

The sweet but hapless heroine, Charity Hope Valentine (Caroline Steinkamp ’10), is determined to find true love despite the discouragement she receives from her worldly, dance-hall friends, Nickie (Anita Shastri ’12) and Helene (Kate Brooks ’08), according to a district news release.

When she meets nervous, neurotic Oscar (Alex Rohlfing ’08), she thinks love has arrived, but even though there’s no happily ever after, Charity never loses heart, the release stated.

New York City serves as a vibrant backdrop to Charity’s search as she meets movie stars (Peter Linck ’10 and Danielle Turlington ’08) and a beatnik preacher (Elliott Kohl ’08).

A chorus of singers and dancers bring New York’s colorful streets to the stage.
