Lindbergh High teacher begins coaching Meramec College men’s basketball this fall

Veteran basketball coach Ken Libby will join the Meramec Community College staff this fall as an assistant men’s coach under Randy Albrecht.

Libby, who will continue to teach social studies at Lindbergh High School, has 32 years of coaching experience on the college and high school levels, including the last 13 years as the Flyers head coach.

“I feel this is a great opportunity,” Libby stated in a college news release.

“I look forward to being a part of Randy’s program and lending my coaching experience to complement his total mission.”

Before Lindbergh, Libby was head coach at Mehlville High, and head coach at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.

He also served as an assistant coach at Truman State University and at Moberly Junior College. Libby and Albrecht combined have nearly 900 career wins. Albrecht enters his 28th year this fall as the Magic head coach. Al Yanko also will return as an assistant coach.

Meramec finished 22-10 last season, advancing to the Region XVI championship game.
