Lindbergh High students clean up Gravois Creek

Eleven Lindbergh High School students recently volunteered alongside Advanced Placement environmental science teacher Barry Marquart to remove more than 15 bags of trash from Gravois Creek at Whitecliff Park. Some of the more unique items pulled out of the creek included a shopping cart, a box spring and an old vacuum cleaner. ‘Keeping plastics, metals and other trash out of our local streams is critical to our health, along with the health of ecosystems downstream,’ Marquart stated in a news release. ‘Much of our plastic waste eventually ends up the Gulf of Mexico, causing serious issues to marine life.’
