Lindbergh High School named to Washington Post Challenge List

Lindbergh High School named to Washington Post Challenge List

Lindbergh High School once again has been recognized as one of the top high schools in the nation by the Washington Post.

The publication ranked LHS 11th in Missouri and 1,103 nationwide on its annual “High School Challenge” list.

“I am extremely proud of our students, parents and staff for their dedication to academic excellence,” Principal Eric Cochran stated in a news release. “We work hard each day for continued achievement in all areas of education.”

The Washington Post ranked nearly 2,300 public and private high schools based on a formula it calls the “Challenge Index” ratio, which is calculated by taking the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year and dividing that total by the number of seniors who graduated that same year.

LHS earned a ratio index of 2.384, which was based on data and results from the 2014-2015 school year. During that time, LHS ranked No. 4 overall and No. 4 in English language arts scores for all Missouri 9-12 high schools.

A record number of Advanced Placement exams were given in 2015 – 1,021, while 12 students earned International Baccalaureate diplomas.
