The Lindbergh High School Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band took first place in the Ameren Thanksgiving Day Parade, kicking off the holiday season with a winning performance that it will repeat in the 2018 Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
This will be the band’s third trip to the nationally televised parade. On Thanksgiving, the band performed the same songs that it will play in the Rose Parade, including “The Trolley Song,” “St. Louis Blues” and “I Go to Rio.”

As part of the annual Ameren Thanksgiving Day Parade, marching bands were judged on music performance, marching and general effect. Trophies were awarded to the top five bands overall, in addition to honors for Outstanding Percussion Section, Outstanding Drum Major and Outstanding Guard Unit. LHS placed first overall among 13 bands who performed Nov. 23.
