Lindbergh dominates Fox

If the Lindbergh football Flyers were not running at full speed with a 3-0 record, they certainly are now.

Improving their record to 4-0 on the year against a clearly overmatched and winless team from Fox (0-4), the Flyers were dominating in a 49-14 win with district football games just three weeks away.

Brock Bond had the most impressive effort for Lindbergh, which also got great performances from Chris Geisz and Noah Hollenkamp.

Bond, the Flyers’ senior quarterback, had seven carries for 121 yards, ran for three touchdowns, threw for 159 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Geisz.

Both passing touchdowns came in the first half, with Bond hitting Geisz for a 69-yard touchdown that was followed by a 56-yard score. Bond played only one series in the second half. Geisz caught just two passes in the game, but they both went for scores, accumulating 125 yards.

Senior running back Noah Hollenkamp also got in on the action with a 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and amassed 100 yards on 10 carries on the night.

Lindbergh coach Tom Beauchamp was pleased — for obvious reasons — with the Flyers’ effort. “We were a little rough at first, but we settled down as the game went on,” Beauchamp said. “Brock is such a talented athlete, and is really getting back in his groove.”

The Flyers coach also was impressed with the play of Geisz and Hollenkamp.

“Chris has really not been utilized up until now, but he is finally at 100 percent so we can really use him,” Beauchamp told the Call. “And Noah really had a good night. He knows his role and comes out and does everything he can to be successful.”

On deck for Lindbergh are the 3-1 Lafayette Lancers, who are fresh off of their first loss of the season — a 35-20 defeat at the hands of Mehlville. Beauchamp knows his team will be ready for Lafayette.

“We will try and find where we can succeed against them,” he said. “They are always well prepared, but we will try to find where we can match our strength against a weakness on their side.”

The Flyers will play at 7 p.m. on Friday at Lindbergh High, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
