Lindbergh High School band members earlier this month raised $1,800 for childhood cancer research during the fourth annual 36-hour LHS Musicthon.

To date, the event has raised $11,800 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, all in honor of a young band buddy who passed away in 2014 following a brave battle with cancer.

Bands, choirs, small-group and individual performers filed 72 half-hour slots, playing music for students and community members.

“The Musicthon’s goal is to empower young people to get involved and make an impact on the lives of children with cancer,” said Tristen Wilbers, band president and senior. “This year, our goal was to make the Musicthon even better by placing a bigger emphasis on young musicians and their talents that sometimes go unnoticed, in order to raise awareness for this great cause.”
