Lindbergh High School junior Colleen Young is one of 25 athletes who will represent the United States at the 2015 International Paralympic Committee Swimming World Championships from July 13 to July 19 in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is Young’s second trip to the games. She first competed in 2012. While the list of events has not been finalized, she expects to compete in the 100-meter breaststroke, 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter backstroke, 400-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle.

The world championships will bring together around 650 swimmers from 50 countries to compete at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow. The event will be the largest international competition before the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

“We are excited about the U.S. team that will be competing at worlds,” Queenie Nichols, high performance director for U.S. Paralympics swimming, stated in a news release. “The team has a great mix of veteran athletes, as well as some real up-and-comers, which will undoubtedly result in some outstanding performances in Glasgow.”
