As the only school in St. Louis to earn the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s “Leadership School” recognition for 12 years in a row, Lindbergh High School has proven to be an ongoing leader in good sportsmanship and student involvement.
MSHAA encourages schools to form school leadership team committees, comprised of students, coaches, administrators and others, to promote and teach citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship and respect.
The “L Club,” which is open to all varsity lettermen, assumes this role at LHS. Athletics Director Mike Slyman said he meets with the L Club monthly to talk about athletic programs and opportunities for improvement. The club also is led by six students who participate on multiple sports teams.
“We participate in various programs that MSHSAA offers to promote leadership among our kids,” Slyman stated in a district news release. “I am proud of all of our athletes for taking good sportsmanship seriously and earning this recognition year after year.”
Because of this accomplishment, LHS is now in the running to become a MSHSAA “5-Star Leadership School.”
