Letter writer extends his condolences to readers exposed to editor’s ‘drivel

To the editor:

I am not a routine letter to the editor contributor.

As a matter of fact, I believe I’ve only written one other and it was a very long time ago. However, after reading Mike Anthony’s berating of Dr. Tim Ricker, I couldn’t help myself. I was a classified director in Mehlville for the last year of Dr. Ricker’s service, and I am now a business owner in the district.

Tim was always a gentleman to me and showed a lot of respect towards my staff.

He seemed to be very student-focused. But I’m not claiming to be qualified to give an opinion on his overall performance during his tenure in the district.

Whether he was a good or bad superintendent isn’t even the point. For Mr. Anthony to cling to an “I-told-you-so” moment in his column only speaks towards his arrogance and lack of anything else interesting to write about, especially considering the matter is so outdated.

Why do you have to resort to such a personal attack, when he is not even here to defend himself? My condolences don’t go out to the Lemont residents; they go out to the Call readers who are exposed to this kind of drivel.
