Letter writer agrees with Zelle’s assessment of incumbent legislator

To the editor:

I read both letters to the editor from Mr. Joe Zelle and Mr. Mark Haefner, and I have to agree with Mr. Zelle.

Rep. Marsha Haefner, R-Oakville, has not addressed what ought to be bipartisan issues — school funding, ethics reform and bringing Missouri driver’s licenses in compliance with federal law. Mr. Haefner just ignores these legitimate facts in his letter, as if they are not real. If Rep. Haefner is in a leadership position in Jefferson City, why hasn’t she led the fight to properly fund our schools? Why hasn’t she led the fight to enact ethics reform?

He also touts recognition and awards received by his mother, without any explanation of how the actions she took to receive this recognition helped us. My guess is, for the most part, they support the agenda of her donors, but not her district.

It appears that she received a $25,000 donation from a Joplin donor specifically because she voted for right to work. Right to work helps her donor, but doesn’t create good-paying jobs. In fact, it has reduced wages wherever it’s been passed.

I think we need a legislator who pledges to support the Constitution and does the very best for her constituents — not one that is beholden to donors and lobbyists.
