‘Let’s get down to brass tacks’ on merger: County is paying for city

To the editor:

Better Together for whom?

The city’s credit rating is zilch, the county is five star.

Politicals would have us believe that this is about saving money. The city has no water meters, and city water is a flat rate, along with the bill for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, or MSD. I have Missouri American Water tied to my MSD bill, as do the rest of county residents.

Is the city going to get out of the water business and sell to Mo Am, or are we in the county going to subsidize the city water? Of course we are.

We in the county have trash districts. The city has their own trash pickups, city owned. Are they going to sell this off to pay their debt? Heck no, county residents will be on the hook.

Sunshine? Let’s get down to the brass tacks of this merger…
