Anna Layton, a 2008 Mehlville Senior High School graduate, will begin her “dream” job in August — teaching seventh-grade science at Oakville Middle School.

Layton recently graduated Cum Laude from St. Louis University with a bachelor’s degree in educational studies. Her certification includes middle school mathematics and science.

Besides other accomplishments, she received SLU’s Carl A. Hangartner award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student in the School of Education.

Layton’s volunteer work includes Rebuilding St. Louis, and serving as a science fair judge and volunteer mentor for women recently released from prison.

She achieved her “dream” job with hard work and dedication, as she has wanted to teach for many years, according to a news release. Layton looks forward to inspiring middle school students through example and education, the release stated.
