Kindergarten registration set for Lindbergh

The Lindbergh School District will conduct kindergarten registration for the 2006-2007 school year this month.

Parents whose last names begin with A through C should register Monday, Feb. 13; D through G, Tuesday, Feb. 14; H through L, Wednesday, Feb. 15; M through R, Thursday, Feb. 16; and S through Z, Friday, Feb. 17.

Registration will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 13 through Feb. 17. Parents who cannot register their child on their scheduled day should call the school as soon as possible to arrange an alternate time, according to a district news release. Lindbergh officials urge parents to make every effort to register on the day scheduled because the registration in-formation is critical for pupil assignment and transportation services.

Kindergarten pupils will register at the elementary school they will attend:

• Crestwood, 1020 S. Sappington Road, (314) 729-2430.

• Kennerly, 10025 Kennerly Road, (314) 729-2440.

• Long, 9021 Sappington Road, (314) 729-2450.

• Sappington, 11011 Gravois Road, (314) 729-2460.

• Truman, 12225 Eddie & Park Road, (314) 729-2470.

When they register, parents will have an opportunity to select full-day tuition based or half-day kindergarten classes.

Each building has a limit of 20 full-day pupils per class. Parents who register in February will be given priority for full-day kindergarten. If more than 20 pupils in a building request full-day, a lottery system will be used.

At registration, parents also can schedule their child’s kindergarten screening date.

An official birth certificate issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics must be presented at the time of registration. Baptismal and hospital certificates will not be accepted. Parents should bring the child’s immunization records, Social Security card and two proofs of their residency. These proofs of residency must be a real or personal property tax bill; and/or a rental or purchase contract plus deposit receipt; and/or a federal tax return.

State immunization laws require that immunizations must be up to date on the first day of school or the pupil cannot attend.

Children may only be registered by the parent or court-appointed legal guardian. Divorced parents must provide a copy of the dissolutionment decree which states custody rights.

Under state law, a child must be 5 years old before Aug. 1, 2006, to attend kindergarten this August.
