Two FIRST LEGO League teams from Kennerly Elementary School recently won awards at a competition at Brittany Woods Middle School.
The Robot Programming honor was presented to fifth-grade team “The Blockheads,” while fourth-grade team “Flash Drivers” won the Project Research Award.
Both teams had nine weeks to research and prepare for this year’s challenge, called Nature’s Fury, according to a news release.
They learned about storms that can cause natural disasters, and had to investigate and develop an innovative solution to help people before, during or after an event.
As part of the process, they had to build and program a LEGO EV3 robot to complete as many missions as possible in 1.5 minutes.
