Jones resigns from Grantwood Village board

Grantwood Village Community Relations Director Mike Jones resigned from the Board of Trustees last week, just days before his seat was up for election.

Jones announced his resignation March 27, effective immediately.

In a letter to village residents, Jones said he was supposed to begin this week “a new career path, which will involve significant travel and increased commitment of time. With the likelihood of missed Tuesday night board meetings and less time with which to focus on the needs of the village, I must step back from my duties as trustee and re-prioritize to meet a new set of challenges.”

The board appointed Jones in July to fill the last of three vacant seats. Those seats were up for election Tuesday — after the Call went to press.

Jones’ name appeared on Tuesday’s ballot as he’d already filed for the election. Also running for the three board seats this week were Trustees Bob Bess and Rich Muraski and resident Mark Kienstra.

The seats carry two-year terms.
