Born in St. Louis, Mr. Costello resided in Lemay. He was a long-time member of St. Andrew Parish.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Paul Brockland, Mary and Ron Blumenfeld and Jeanne and David Andorff; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Judi Costello, Dennis and Joan Costello and Robert Costello; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Chris Costello; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Costello was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn T. Costello (nee Chilovich).

Services were at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Visitation was at Hoffmeister South County Chapel. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
