John and Lavern O’Donnell celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 12.
Mr. O’Donnell and the former Lavern Simmermann were married June 12, 1943, at St. Columbkille’s Church, then located at Davis Street and Michigan Avenue in St. Louis.
He retired after a long career with the Stupp Brothers Bridge Co.
Mrs. O’Donnell worked at Kipp’s Candies, and around that time met John and fell in love. In 1955, they moved to the Jefferson Barracks area of south county.
Mr. and Mrs. O’Donnell are the parents of two sons and one daughter.
The couple have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
