To the editor:
I am responding to Jan Burmeister’s July 7 letter to the editor stating that JB Blast was a rock concert, not a patriotic concert.
My husband and I went last year, and I can’t remember one patriotic song. It was really a disappointment, especially coming from a U.S. military band. The Fourth of July is the perfect time to hear patriotic music.
Perhaps a compromise is in order — at least half of the songs should be celebrating our country and our freedom, and the rest hip hop.
Most young people I know like patriotic music, and those who are not familiar should be exposed to the music that celebrates our freedom and pride as a nation.
