Jake’s Crew at Lindbergh High School is hosting a community blood drive in honor of classmate Jake Franzel from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the multipurpose room — near the cafeteria and commons — at Lindbergh High School, 5000 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
Jake, 18, has been battling osteosarcoma for three years now. Osteosarcoma is a cancerous bone tumor that most commonly occurs in children and young adults, and teenagers are the most frequently affected age group.
To make an appointment, call Sue Franzel at (314) 791-9514 or visit
, click “Donate Blood” and enter sponsor code 10128. All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt for showing their support. Donors are asked to eat well, drink lots of water and bring photo identification, according to a news release.
This blood drive is being held with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, an independent, not-for-profit organization that plays an integral role in the health of the community, the release stated. Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is a community-based blood center serving SSM Medical Centers throughout the area, including Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, where Jake receives his treatments.
