Irene E. Treppler

Died: Sunday, October 21, 2012

Age: 86

Former Missouri Sen. Irene E. Treppler (nee Hagemann), 86, died Oct. 21.

She served six terms in the Missouri House of Representatives after first being elected in 1972.

In 1984, Mrs. Treppler was elected to the Missouri Senate and was the first Republican woman to serve in the upper chamber. She retired in 1996, after 24 years of service to the state of Missouri.

Mrs. Treppler was a lifelong member of St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ and served on the Church Council from 1998 to 2000, the last two years as president, and also from 2004 to 2006.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Walter J. Treppler; three sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Jane Treppler and Steven A. and Carol Treppler, both of south county, and Walter W. and Alana Treppler of St. Peters; a daughter, Diane V. Anderson of west county; six grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.

Visitation was Kutis South County Chapel. Funeral service was at St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ.

Interment was in St. Johns Cemetery.
