High octane probably is the best way to describe the offense of the girls’ soccer team at Oakville Senior High School.

The Tigers (9-2-2, 4-0-1 Suburban South) have scored 13 goals in their past three games, while recording a shutout win in each contest.

“We came off of spring break and kind of had a slow start,” Tigers head coach Dave Robben told the Call. “We picked up the pace in the St. Louis Soccer Classic and really started rolling this past week with three conference wins.”

Oakville opened up the week with a 5-0 slamming of Seckman.

Freshman forward Megan Flecke recorded two goals and one assist, while junior defender Heather Siegmund notched one goal, along with senior midfielder Melanie Meade and sophomore Lindsey Goodin.

“We started off kind of slow in the first half,” Robben explained. “But I thought it was a well-played game.”

Oakville turned around the following Wednesday to thump Northwest-House Springs 4-0.

Junior Kayleight Kozemczak had one goal and one assist as well as freshman Emma Kriegel. Goodin, along with sophomore midfielder Lisa Kraus had one goal each.

On Friday afternoon, Oakville walked away from its third conference win of the week with a 4-0 decision over University City. The scoring once again was dominated by the underclassmen.

“These young players have really stepped up to the opportunity that’s being made available to them,” Robben said. “During these last couple of weeks, the sense of playing together as a team has really started to come together.”

Goodin, along with Flecke had a goal each as well as freshman forward Brooke Inman and senior forward Lisa Pucci.

In all three wins this week, senior goalkeepers Val Vogler and Meghan Reid recorded shutout wins.

The Tigers are back in action this week as they participate in the Catholic Youth Council Tournament at the St. Louis Soccer Park. Their first-round match against Althoff was played Monday — after the Call went to press.

“We’ve got the chance to play some pretty good teams this week,” Robben said. “The CYC tournament is always a good tournament and we’re always looking forward to playing on the turf at Soccer Park.”

The winner of the Oakville vs. Althoff game will play either Eureka or Rosati Kain at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28.

The tournament semifinal is scheduled at 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, with the championship game set for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 1.
