IB program prepares seniors for success

IB program prepares seniors for success

Fourteen Lindbergh High School seniors are pursuing the prestigious Inter-national Baccalaureate diploma in 2012-2013, which they will receive upon graduation in May. Students in the IB program must successfully complete six exams, a course in ‘Theory of Knowledge,’ a 4,000-word extended essay and a self-designed program of 150 creative, action and service hours. LHS is one of the only schools in St. Louis to offer IB courses, along with more common Advanced Placement options. Irv Mueller, district honors coordinator, says an IB diploma helps distinguish students in the college admissions process and prepares them for a successful college experience. This year’s candidates, back row, from left, are: Chris Bell, Brian Pence and Alec Hubbard. Middle row, from left, are: Vidhan Srivastava, Bryan Maier, Aditya Dommaraju, R.J. Mohr, Alex Bollermann-Nowlis and Sandra Hanzelkova-Dostalik. Front row, from left, are: Zachary Bollermann-Nowlis, Ananya Benegal, Tiffany Lee, Becky Bavlsik and Allison Mather. The students are joined by ‘Theory of Knowledge’ teacher Matthew Cooper, middle row, far right.
