St. Anthony’s Medical Center’s second annual Pauper’s Meal, held in the hospital cafeteria on Jan. 19, raised $4,300 in donations for local victims of the recent tornadoes.
Funds raised included a $1,000 donation from St. Anthony’s Medical Center’s Charitable Foundation Physician Ambassadors, a group of physicians whose community outreach efforts provide grants throughout the year to partnering organizations.
St. Anthony’s food service employees served a meager fare of soup and bread to hospital employees and visitors in the hospital cafeteria, for a free-will offering, with a minimum suggested donation of $5 each.
The money collected is being donated to tornado relief efforts to assist residents of Crestwood, Sunset Hills and Fenton neighboring communities to St. Anthony’s. City officials from each of those municipalities joined in sharing the meal.
