Hornal named Green Park city administrator

The appointment of Zella Hornal as city administrator was approved last week by the Green Park Board of Aldermen.

Hornal has served as city administrator/city clerk in the city of Charlack since 2003.

She also is a member of the International Institute of City Clerks, the Missouri Municipal League, the Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association, and the City Clerks and Finance Officers Association Eastern Division.

“Ms. Hornal’s experience in the city of Charlack, which is similar in size and population as Green Park, will help her make a smooth transition to the city administrator role in Green Park,” Mayor Tony Konopka stated in a news release.

“We are pleased with the qualifications she will bring to the city, and hope to keep improving the service provided to the citizens and the city’s communication with the public,” the mayor added.

As city administrator, Hornal will be responsible for day-to-day operation of City Hall, including staff supervision, citizen relations, coordination of the city’s solid waste, reoccupancy inspection and lateral sewer programs, ordinance preparation, permitting and licensing, municipal elections, oversight of zoning compliance and the city’s open records and meetings policy, according to the release.

Hornal is expected to begin her new post in early September.

In the interim, Administrative Assistants Karen Callico and Wanda Brose have been appointed deputy city clerks and will continue to keep City Hall running smoothly, the release stated.

“I am thankful for the work Karen and Wanda have done to keep City Hall functioning, and making sure the citizens and businesses get the service they need. The board and I really appreciate them,” the mayor stated.

Hornal succeeds Diane Mize, who served as city administrator from July 2002 until last month when she left the position for a position in the private sector.
