The Sappington House Foundation hosts an open house at the Joseph Sappington Cabin in November 2021 ahead of the cabin’s disassembly, move and reassembly at a Crestwood park. The cabin was built in 1816 and was on the National Register of Historic Places while at its original location.
The Barn restaurant, located at the Historic Sappington House, 1015 S. Sappington Road in Crestwood, is hosting “Share Days at The Barn” throughout August to raise funds for the reconstruction of the 1816 Joseph Sappington Log House.
Every remaining Monday in August – Aug. 12, Aug. 19 and Aug. 26 – 20% of net proceeds from the restaurant will be donated to fund the reconstruction project.
The preservation project is spearheaded by the Sappington House Foundation. The log cabin, which was built by a relative of Thomas Sappington of the Sappington House, was disassembled in its original location in Affton in November 2022, with plans for it to be reconstructed on the Thomas Sappington House property as a learning and education center.
The Barn restaurant and patio is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, serving breakfast, lunch and drinks.
