Hill named director of public services

The Crestwood Board of Aldermen recently approved the city’s current superintendent of maintenance as its new director of public services.

Wendell Hill, who has worked for the city since 1974, will was named to the position during a Dec. 12 closed session.

Ward 4 Alderman Dan Tennessen made a motion to approve Hill’s appointment, which Ward 3 Alderman Paul Duchild seconded.

Ward 1 Alderman Darryl Wallach and Ward 2 Alderman Tim Trueblood were absent.

Hill’s salary as superintendent of maintenance was $63,092.80.

The board also voted to approve an increase of $1,000 per month for Hill. Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan made a motion to approve the increase, which Tennessen seconded. The motion passed with five yes votes. Ward 4 Alderman John Foote abstained.

The public services director position became vacant Nov. 28, when then-Public Services Director Jim Eckrich left the city to take the position of director of public works/city engineer in Chesterfield.
