Robert Hicks Jr. will serve as interim assistant principal at Mehlville Senior High School for the remainder of the current school year.

The Mehlville Board of Education voted unanimously last week to name Hicks to the post. He replaces Dave Mana, who retired Dec. 31 due to family health concerns.

Hicks joins the Mehlville High staff from Washington Middle School, where he’s been teaching since 1990, according to a district news release.

During his more than 13 years at Washington Middle, Hicks taught composition, literature and social studies to seventh- and eighth-graders. He also taught study hall and alternate school programs.

A graduate of Harris Stowe State College with a bachelor of arts degree, Hicks received his master of education degree from National Louis University.

He earned his administration degree from Lindenwood University. He holds three professional certificates — elementary education (kindergarten through eighth grade), language arts (fourth through eighth grade) and social studies (fourth through eighth grade).

He also is completing two additional certificates — elementary administration and secondary administration.

A four-time nominee for Who’s Who in American Education, Hicks is a graduate of Mehlville Senior High School. He resides in Wentzville with his wife, Kathryn, and 7-year-old daughter Ashley.
