Henry T. “Hank” Martin

Died: Friday, May 27, 2016

Age: 80

Henry T. “Hank” Martin, 80, died May 27 in St. Louis after a long illness.

Mr. Martin was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Fredericktown.

He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management.

Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army and later was in the Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, golfing, flying planes and racing stock cars.

Mr. Martin loved to play, sing and listen to country and rock ’n’ roll music. He could sometimes be heard on stage or playing guitar in an orchestra pit for a community theater group, or smiling proudly from the audience. Mr. Martin was a longtime member of Webster Groves Christian Church, where he sang in the choir many years.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jane; his children, Karen (Norm) Marsh, Kay (Gerry) Love and Ken (Scarlett) Martin; his grandson Mitchell Martin; and his brother-in-law James (Betsy) Gerrish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Stella Martin; and siblings, Ruby (Jerry) Cook, Ray (Pauline) Martin and Wilma (Jim) Woodall.

Visitation was at Kutis Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life was at Webster Groves Christian Church. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Webster Groves Christian Church music program or a charity of your choice in his memory.
