On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Aug. 5 through Aug. 7, Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site will present the 11th annual edition of the popular living history program “A Night Walk Into the Past.”

As visitors walk the grounds of the site, park rangers and volunteers will present costumed portrayals of individuals from the past. This year’s program focuses on Grant’s presidency; friends and other contemporary figures will share their unique perspectives on the story of Ulysses and Julia Grant.

One lantern-lit performance will be conducted each night. Attendees should arrive by 7:15 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:30 p.m. Although tickets for the program are free, space is limited and reservations are required; they may be made by calling the Visitor Center at (314) 842-3298 or by stopping by the park.

Walking shoes and insect repellent are recommended; lawn chairs are optional. Grant’s Farm once again will provide free parking for this special event in the lot adjacent to the site.

The Night Walk is one of an ongoing series of special activities at this unit of the National Park Service, also known as White Haven. The park has opened a new Visitor Center and visitors are encouraged to call for complete information about the site and its programs. The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site is at 7400 Grant Road. The park is open for regular visitation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
