To the editor:
Good things are happening in Sunset Hills. Having attended the town hall meetings a few years back in regard to updating the Sunset Hills Comprehensive Plan, I remember vividly the No. 1 issue residents wanted to see was redevelopment in our existing commercial corridors.
Well, have you all noticed the redevelopment and modernization taking place in Sunset Hills?
On Lindbergh we have the complete remodel and makeover of the Hampton Inn into a LaQuinta Inn, $7 million being spent on a new Days Inn being built next to Helen Fitzgerald’s, the brand new Jimmy Johns building next to the recently built Mellow Mushroom and the transformation of the old Gianino’s restaurant into Divine Med Spa and Clementines Boutique.
At Lindbergh and East Watson, the old Econo Lodge motel has been torn down and we will soon have the nicest Tidal Wave gas station in town along with Kaldi’s Coffee and a Smoothie King.
At Rott Road and Geyer, the new $18 million Peace Haven Retirement Center is under construction. At the old Sunset Ford site on Gravois Road at Sappington Barracks, we have the new Grimco offices and Midwest Regional Bank. Off Old Gravois Road, Friendship Village is spending almost $100 million on its upgrade and new living spaces for seniors.
Add all of that up and there is around $150 million worth of investment going into Sunset Hills right now.
I would like to thank Mayor Pat Fribis and Board of Aldermen members Kurt Krueger, Thompson Price, Mark Colombo, Steve Bersche, Casey Wong and Ann McMunn for putting residents first and promoting smart business development while protecting and enhancing our property values by approving these projects.
Having leadership that respects the history of our great city while shaping its future is so important to keeping Sunset Hills vibrant and growing. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going.
