Given surplus, maybe push for cutting Mehlville’s tax rate appropriate
July 27, 2011
To the editor:
According to a July 14 article in the Call, the Mehlville School District added to the base salaries of teachers last year.
The school district is projecting roughly a $2.3 million surplus at the close of the fiscal 2011.
So why all the hype the school district put out pushing for a huge property tax increase with Proposition C last year?
Fortunately, the majority of voters did not buy into it. Maybe a push for a reduction in the Mehlville School District’s property tax rate would be more appropriate.
