Girl Scouts receive Marian Awards

Eighteen seventh- and eighth-grade Girl Scouts from the St. Catherine Laboure Parish recently received their Marian Award medals at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

Honored were: Carri Banholzer, Molly Baumgartner, Desiree Cain, Lauren Fitch, Lindsey Geier, Danielle Grasso, Theresa Helm, Jillian Hoge, Kim Klipsch, Margie Laurentius, Courtney McArthur, Amanda Pfeil, Patricia Ruzicka, Mary Stephens, Kelsey Stroble, Melissa Stumpf, Rachal Yanker and Elizabeth Weile.

All the girls participated in a baby shower and the items were donated to Our Lady’s Inn. The girls visited and were able to tour Our Lady’s Inn. The seventh-grade Girl Scouts worked at Operation Food Search and boxed 10½ pallets of nonperishable grocery items for the needy.

Each girl was required to do a service project in which they volunteered several times for the same agency or activity.

The Girl Scouts later received a proclamation from County Executive Charlie Dooley and a resolution from County Councilman John Campisi of south county.

The Girl Scout leaders were: Cathy Banholzer, Lori Stumpf, Sue Stephens and the late Debbie Hoge.
