Girl Scout Troop 3092 to sponsor “Operation SWAPS-Tastic’

In honor of Girl Scout Founder’s Day and with October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Junior Girl Scout Troop 3092 is organizing “Operation SWAPS-Tastic” — an all Long Elementary Girl Scout event.

The event, “A Night Celebrating Girl Scout Traditions and Supporting Lydia’s House,” will take place from 3:45 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Southminster Church, 10126 E. Watson Road.

The troop is organizing this event as part of its Bronze Award “Take Action” Project, according to a news release. The event is designed to provide Long Elementary Scouts an opportunity to celebrate Girl Scouting traditions, including Founder’s Day on Oct. 31, and to raise donations and awareness for Lydia’s House.

Lydia’s House is a local organization that provides transitional housing for abused woman and their children while working in faith to end domestic violence. Junior Troop 3092 will accept donations of toilet paper, rag mops and cleaning solutions to support Lydia’s House.

Scouts who attend “Operation SWAPS-Tastic” will enjoy creating Girl Scout SWAPS, singing Girl Scout songs, playing games and a bake sale hosted by Daisy Girl Scout Troop 2893.
