Members of the Mehlville Garden Club recently presented a State Beautification Citation and Yard of the Month Award to Carol Murray, whose home is in the 4900 block of Kerth Road in Concord. She has a wide variety of plants decorating her yard. Each tree in the backyard has a circle of flowers and yard decorations around it. She has many theme-area plantings, including a three-piece band, a crocodile with a fish and a boy fishing in a beach setting. Murray has more than 100 tropical plants that she takes outside every spring and brings in every fall. Many Garden Club members attended the awards presentation. In the front, Garden Club member Carole Lyston presents the honors to Murray, who is holding the leash to her very friendly puppy. Members of the Mehlville Garden Club recently presented a State Beautification Citation and Yard of the Month Award to Steve and Terry Metzler, whose home is in the 5500 block of Wieland Drive in Concord. This home won first place in the Amateur Division of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Great Garden Contest in 2013. Mrs. Metzler’s amazing ‘garden of love’ has been a work in progress for 22 years, and Garden Club members say the community is blessed that she shares. Members of the Mehlville Garden Club recently presented a State Beauti-fication Citation and Yard of the Month Award to Mary Lou Farrow, whose home is at Sonata Drive and Musick Road. Garden Club members say Farrow’s beautiful garden on a corner lot is attractive year-round with flowers blooming everywhere. Besides a variety of plants, the garden features more than 20 birdhouses. The garden has been a work in progress for more than 30 years.
