George J. Kunkel Sr. died April 28.

Mr. Kunkel was the founder of George Kunkel and Sons Plumbing Co. He taught his plumbing skills and secrets to his sons, cousins, nephews and many others throughout his career.

Mr. Kunkel was the father of George Kunkel Jr., Kimberly Howell, George J. (Jill) Kunkel, John E. Kunkel and Chrissa D. Bess; and grandfather of Kayla Kunkel, Alissa Bess, Georgia Bess, John Bess, Johnny Kunkel and Nick, Bailey and Kris-ty Kunkel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda D. Kunkel (nee Hutton).

Visitation and services were conducted at Hoffmeister South County Chapel.

Interment was in St. Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Horses Bart and Chuck, driven by Ray Becker and Theressa Miller, led Mr. Kunkel’s funeral procession to the cemetery.
