Fund-raiser set Aug. 6 to aid Imperial woman

A fund-raising benefit for an Imperial woman waging a courageous battle against cancer will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Meramec Eagles, 1725 Jeff-co Blvd., Arnold.

Helen Scott, 46, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She has worked as a manager at several Dirt Cheap stores for many years and has been at the Telegraph, Arnold and Manchester locations. Scott continued to work every day through her chemotherapy and radiation treatments, remaining positive and outgoing.

She again was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, this time in her lungs and liver. She now is terminal and no longer able to work.

Scott has three children, the youngest being 12 years old. Proceeds from the benefit will help with her medical bills.

The fund-raiser will feature music, food, a cash bar and a silent auction.

Tickets cost $20 — cash or check only — and can be purchased in advance at Dirt Cheap, 4359 Telegraph Road, Oakville; Dirt Cheap, 1200 Big Bill Road, Arnold; or at the Meramec Eagles, 1725 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold. Tickets also can be purchased at the door the day of the event.
