SSM Health will highlight prostate cancer awareness this month — Prostate Cancer Awareness Month — by offering free PSA tests to men ages 50 to 59 across Dave Sinclair Automotive Group locations in the region.

The PSA is a test looking for prostate-specific antigen in the blood and if elevated, could indicate a man is at higher risk of prostate cancer.

Four screening dates will be offered:

• Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Dave Sinclair Buick/GMC in South County — 5655 S Lindbergh Blvd.

• Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Dave Sinclair Lincoln in St. Peters — 4760 N Service Road, St Peters.

• Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Dave Sinclair Ford in South County — 7466 S Lindbergh Blvd.

• Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Dave Sinclair Chrysler in Pacific — 2326 W Osage St., Pacific.

All screenings will take place from 4 to 7 p.m.

In 2016, the American Cancer Society estimates that there will be more than 180,000 new cases of prostate cancer and more than 26,000 deaths from prostate cancer in the United States. When he was 75 years old, the founder of Dave Sinclair Automotive Group, the late Dave Sinclair Sr. was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He credited the PSA test with saving his life, according to a news release. He was a very strong advocate of these screenings — encouraging his family, friends and the general public to attend one of these events.
