A free concert and fireworks display will highlight the annual Jefferson Barracks Blast today — July 3.

The popular Bob Kuban Band will kick off the festivities at 7 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater in Jefferson Bar-racks Park with a mix of jazz, oldies, show tunes, popular and patriotic music.

The concert will end at 9 p.m., followed by a fireworks display by Silverado Fire-works, a 25-year-old company in Stanton.

Silverado’s award-winning pyrotechnicians have produced numerous shows, including the Missouri Governor’s Inaug-ural Ball in Jefferson City in 2001.

Low-cost refreshment concessions will be available. Those attending should bring blankets or folding chairs to be comfortable with the lawn seating.

The annual event is sponsored by the county Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Affton Chamber of Commerce, the Lemay Chamber of Com-merce, the South County Chamber of Com-merce and the St. Louis County Police De-partment as well as County Executive “Buzz” Westfall and County Councilman John Campisi.
