To the editor:
On the Fourth of July, our neighborhood became much like a war zone, as bomb-like fireworks set off car alarms several times and vibrated our home.
They were ignited on another street. which makes it even more concerning. In case people are unaware, homemade fireworks displays are illegal in St. Louis County. Unfortunately, they are not in surrounding counties. A police officer told me they are overwhelmed by the number who violate the law. Communities offer fireworks displays that are intended to allow us to celebrate without disrupting a neighborhood, not to mention terrifying pets of all kinds. A lack of concern for others and mass breaking the law are my concerns.
