Four aldermen supporting Fagan for mayor

To the editor:

This letter is addressed to our Crestwood voters: We’ve been through rough times, and we still have tough decisions to make ahead.

As we put our problems behind us, we strive to earn your trust as elected officials.

We want only the truth to be told, but rumors continue to hurt us. Crestwood is more open than ever before, and we are proud to represent you.

So, now it comes down to who you trust to lead your city. Alderman LaBore has one alderman supporting him — himself. A former alderman from the ’80s, Roy Robinson, has two aldermen supporting him.

Alderman Jesus Miguel is actively campaigning for Robinson and collected the most signatures for the state audit petition.

In an opinion column this past week, the Call said: “At a time when the city’s general fund is in serious trouble, the cost of a state audit only adds to the city’s problems and is another example of Mr. Miguel’s lack of fiscal common sense.”

Alderman Fagan has the support of four aldermen — including Acting Mayor Richard Breeding. We have no hidden agenda.

Support for a candidate at this level comes from mutual respect and an understanding of abilities and vision. We may not agree on everything, but we agree that we have the city’s best interests in mind.

Because we are so close to the issues, we have a unique perspective. We exercise good common sense.

Our goal is to act responsibly, proactively and to restore pride. We are first and foremost residents, and we want to protect our investment. We love Crestwood, otherwise we would not be here.

Aldermanic support for candidates has never been this open. It was always done behind the scenes. If our actions offend you, we apologize. But at this critical time in our history, we need a strong leader.

That is why we have broken the silence and made it clear that Fagan is the only choice in this election.

We are fighting to improve Crestwood.

Trust us, help us and vote for Tom Fagan on Aug. 3.

Thank you.
