Former committeeman supporting Douglas for Lemay committeewoman

To the editor:

Next week, voters will return to the ballot box to make some tough decisions.

One easy decision would be to re-elect Republican Committeewoman Teresa Douglas of Lemay. In my over four years volunteering in Lemay Township, I have had the pleasure and comfort of standing shoulder to shoulder with Teresa fighting many issues within the state, county and even in other municipalities, where she does not reside but has proven helpful, as usual.

Teresa Douglas helped form Common Sense for St. Louis, an anti-city-county merger group, researching the sometimes hard to find facts of why it would be bad on so many levels for us to allow a merger. She helped in our many visits to various municipalities to spread the word about the merger, our success being measured by the various boards of aldermen and councils that passed resolutions to formally oppose the merger.

Teresa and our group of volunteers fought St. Louis County on the Complete Streets bill for 15 weeks. We were successful in having Trailnet removed from the bill and saved taxpayers’ money as a result. She also fought the landlord license bill and many others too numerous to list.

Having joined Teresa at the County Council and in various area municipalities to help educate people, lobby to stop government overreach and fiscal irresponsibility as well as promote good legislation and work on numerous campaigns, it would be a terrible loss not only to the people of Lemay, but to our St. Louis Central Committee and the area in general if Teresa were not re-elected.

I truly hope voters will re-elect honest, dedicated and hard-working Teresa Douglas to her volunteer post as Lemay Township Republican Committeewoman.
