Five Mehlville schools named Missouri Schools of Character

Five more Mehlville School District schools have been named Missouri Schools of Character, according to a news release.

Beasley Elementary, Bierbaum Elementary, Oakville Elementary, Bernard Middle and Mehlville High are the latest schools to earn the award. They join Blades Elementary, Hagemann Elementary, Point Elementary, Rogers Elementary and Trautwein Elementary as Missouri Schools of Character. Last year, Trautwein Elementary went on to be named a National School of Character.

State Schools of Character or SSOC, are selected for having reached a standard of excellence in the area of character development. Schools chosen as Missouri Schools of Character hold that designation for three years, and they serve as models of excellence for the SSOC program.

Beasley Elementary, Bierbaum Elementary, Blades Elementary, Hagemann Elementary, Oakville Elementary, Point Elementary, Rogers Elementary, Bernard Middle and Mehlville High currently are being considered for National School of Character honors, the release stated.

Mehlville Superintendent Eric Knost stated in the release, “I’m very proud of our district’s efforts to embed character education in our daily practices. Our schools are wonderful places for students to learn and these recognitions validate the daily practices inside of our buildings and classrooms.”
