The Mehlville Fire Protection District will sponsor a Community Emergency Response Team training class next month at the district’s training center, 11020 Mueller Road.

Classes will meet Aug. 22, Aug. 23, Aug. 24 and Aug. 26.

The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. The CERT training program is a 20-hour course. Participants of the Mehlville Fire Protection District’s CERT class will receive intensive, hands-on training in Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, CERT and Terrorism, Disaster Psychology and Pre-paredness for the Urban Environment.

The CERT training class will be offered in conjunction with the county Police Department through a grant received through the Department of Homeland Security and Missouri Emergency Management.
