Filing for upcoming election to end Jan. 19

Filing continues until next week for municipal and school-board seats up for election Tuesday, April 6.

Filing will continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The Sunset Hills mayoral seat is up for election.

In addition, aldermanic seats are up for election in Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills.

Two seats are up for election on both the Lindbergh and Mehlville boards of education along with one seat on the St. Louis Community College Board of Trustees.

Crestwood

Four seats on the Board of Aldermen — one from each ward — are up for election.

Seats currently held by Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan, Ward 2 Alderman Jeff Schlink, Ward 3 Alderman Jerry Miguel and Ward 4 Alderman John Foote are up for election.

Crestwood aldermanic seats carry three-year terms.

Incumbents Duncan, Miguel and Foote have filed for re-election, and former Alderman Steve Nieder has filed in Ward 4.

Green Park

Three seats on the Board of Aldermen — one from each ward — are up for election.

Seats currently held by Ward 1 Alderman Carol Hamilton, Ward 2 Alderman Jackie Wilson and Ward 3 Alderman Fred Baras are up for election. The seats carry two-year terms.

The three incumbents have filed for re-election.

Sunset Hills

The mayoral seat held by Mike Svoboda, who was elected in April 2008, is up for election.

Aldermanic seats currently held by Frank Hardy of Ward 1, Thomas Hrastich of Ward 2, Stephen Webb of Ward 3 and Frank Gregory of Ward 4 also are up for election.

Both the mayoral and aldermanic seats carry two-year terms.

Svoboda and Ward 1 Alderman Bill Nolan have filed for the mayoral seat.

Hardy, Hrastich and Webb have filed for their respective aldermanic seats.

Lindbergh school board

Seats on the Lindbergh Board of Education currently held by Vice President Vic Lenz and David Peek are up for election.

The seats carry three-year terms.

Both Lenz and Peek have filed, along with Concord resident Kara Horton Gotsch.

Mehlville school board

Seats on the Mehlville Board of Education currently held by Vice President Venki Palamand and Secretary Larry Felton are up for election.

The seats carry three-year terms.

Palamand and Felton have filed.

Under state law, if the number of school-board candidates who file is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election, no election will be conducted.

However, if the number of candidates filing exceeds the number of positions, an election will take place April 6.

St. Louis Community College

One of the Subdistrict 4 seats on the Board of Trustees is up for election.

The seat, currently held by Chair Robert Nelson of Kirkwood, carries a six-year term.

Subdistrict 4 includes the school districts of Parkway, Kirkwood, Lindbergh, Mehlville, Rockwood, Valley Park, Meramec Valley and parts of Jefferson and Franklin counties.

Nelson, Tina Odo of Wildwood and Robert Johns of Glendale have filed for the seat.
