To the editor:
As the new majority on the Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors gleefully slashes employee benefits and works to destroy the morale of our firefighters and paramedics and the district’s taxpayers apparently silently cheer them on, is everybody looking forward to our higher homeowners’ insurance rates that will be coming down the road?
The quality of the district’s services can’t help but decline because of the cavalier way in which the board majority is acting without any consultation with those involved and apparently without any long-range consideration of the effects of their actions.
