To the editor:

In response to Monarch Fire Protection District firefighter Steve Kirdy’s letter, I don’t believe the Mehlville Fire Protection District needs “a fresh vision.”

I am extremely grateful to have had Aaron Hilmer on the Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors for the past 12 years. Aaron is a prime example of how an elected official should work for the people who voted for him.

I cannot think of one rational reason not to vote for Aaron, a man of his word. He voted to roll back a tax-rate increase approved in 2004, and he has achieved numerous accomplishments with no tax increases.

Why try to fix something that isn’t broken?

I, for one, have had the misfortune to utilize the fire district’s services on three occasions in the past five years, and I am extremely grateful for the knowledgeable and professional care I received.

If you want to keep your taxes low and have the best fire district, vote for Aaron Hilmer. My personal thanks to Aaron and his staff.
