Dominick, Velma Martise celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Dominick, Velma Martise celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Dominick and Velma Martise recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family members at a local restaurant.

Dominick Martise and the former Velma Bick were married April 26, 1952, by Bishop George J. Gottwald at St. Margaret of Scotland Church on Flad Avenue in the city of St. Louis.

After a tour with the U.S. Navy, Mr. Martise came home, found employment with the railroad and married. He left the railroad to work at the Boys’ Club for a good amount of time and later worked for Consolidated Freightways, from which he retired.

Upon graduation from McKinley High School, Mrs. Martise entered the work force for some time, married and then took leave to become a housewife and mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Martise are the parents of three daughters and one son: Karen Ondrus, Sue Martise, Mary Biggs and Dominick Martise, who reside in St. Louis. The couple have five grandchildren — Elizabeth, Joe, Doug, Mike and Luke — and one great-granddaughter, Madison.
